hw#5. . the routes of the food dominant discourse.

Dominant discourse: a set of participants whom discuss particular subjects regarding certain topics. Mainly media. Normally discussed by people in power who speak of it from a perspective where it turns out being accepted by people.

When i think of dominant discourses i think of people who think they know it all. People often have discourses over whats considered healthy and what isn't. As a vegetarian i consider myself healthy. I don't really have any junk food and consist of vegetables, fruit, water, fiber, basically things i consider healthy. I dont completely agree with what is said out there. I don't need to be influenced by the dominant discourse because i already live by what they say. what they say basically is to stay healthy.

Now a days its shifting towards 'being healthy'. Not only does the dominant discourse talk about it but its also seen. Even though i consider Mc Donalds to be the worst fast food restaurant they are considering changes. they are starting to sell things that are healthy. this is not the first fast food restaurant that's trying to make that change. There is also Starbucks for instance or Wendy's. this chang had to be dne because there are many kids who are becoming obese due to these poor diets. So in a way i agree with dominant discourse because people should eat healthier so they can sustain a better life.

Some topics being discussed regarding food are: eating vegetables keep you well, organic food, eating food that's better for you organic or not, why organic food is better, etc. This shows that dominant discourse thinks that organic food is better for your health. "The better choice."
