When i think about food priorities the first thing that comes to mind is, no meat. I am a vegetarian, therefore of course all my meals have to be meatless. Another priority is staying healthy. I really don't like fast food restaurants. when i come to think about my priorities i am satisfied with them.I love the smell of the vegetables so fresh and yummy. The colors are so vibrant and wonderful that they catch my attention. Not to mention their shape is so intriguing. When i put the vegetables in my mouth i savor the delicious taste. Salad tastes so fresh like the nice green fresh grass. Not that i have tasted it before. Even as a child i always preferred my vegetables. Coming from a spanish speaking family we eat a lot of meat. One thing that would be cooked a lot would be chicken and that to me is disgusting. Chicken just doesn't catch my attention. When i think of it, i would be eating a dead animal. Steak however, i would be able to have a small portion of but only during special occasions. I became a custom of not eating meat, therefore moving here in Manhattan makes it so much easier for me. Not to mention its so much healthier. I personally don't like to go with the flow as for what i eat. I like to eat based on what i'm in the mood for and if its healthy. I can say that i'm the dominant figure when it comes to my meals. the reason i consider myself to be dominant is because I don't let the dominant discourse influence me on the way i eat. i dont let it influence me because ive already been a customed to being vegetarian and not eating processed foods. A lot of people who eat meat say, "we need meat." Reality is we don't. I get my proteins through nuts and beans as well as other things and i eats lots of fiber. My aunt is a nutritionist therefore i can stand strong with my argument.
Well there never really is a time where my meal fails to meet the desires of an ideal meal. Since i am used to being healthy eating the same thing wont bother me. I love fruits and vegetables so any meal including either is ideal for me. There are times when i am not in the mood to eat a typical meal. however, when thats the case i always give it a solution. The solution being that i go out and have whatever i am in the mood for. There are meals that are appetizing that don't include meat. Sometimes i go out and eat in a restaurant. That doesnt mean i will repeat the same pattern everyday. There are just days that we need to get out of our daily routine and try something different. Also now a days there are way more options for us vegetarians. The reason being that the dominant discourse is now shifting towards a healthier way of living. I completely concur with that because i feel that if we eat healthier and stay more active we will live longer. We will stay more active because we will be satisfied and be able to move around. Unlike, sitting around and having no energy because you had meat and feel rally stuffed.
Is food sacred? Are you kidding me! Of course it is! With all honesty i can definitely say, "I LOVE FOOD!!!" One thing i absolutely love to do is eat. Being vegetarian gives you many options. I can eat all day long and not gain any weight. A typical day of eating on my schedule would be a light breakfast, a snack, a light lunch, another snack, snack, then a light dinner. Snacks for me are like a granola bar, fruit, baby carrots, etc. One of my major rules is no eating after 7pm. besides that food is amazing. i can seriously go off and write a whole story about why food is so fantastic. The simple feeling of eating is satisfying.
